As a smart telecom broadband customer you can create up to 10 "mysmart.ie"
email addresses. You can do this using the adminmail tool. To login, use
the username and password detailed in your welcome letter. Take care to
pay attention to the notes on allowed email address and password formats.
Settings
In order to send mail while using your smart telecom broadband service all
email applications must be configured to use the outgoing mail server
"smtp.mysmart.ie".
If you already have an email address, and the provider of that email address permits downloading of emails sent to that user using POP, then you can use their incoming/POP server.
If you would rather use "mysmart.ie" email addresses, then you should use "pop.mysmart.ie" as your incoming/POP server.
Futher details on mail client configuration can be found here:

the smartmail tool.
This is a basic webmail interface which will allow you to view and delete mails in your inbox and to compose new mails.
Note that emails viewed using the smartmail tool will still be available for POP download using your mail client.
If you are having trouble downloading mails from your inbox, use this tool to remove any large mails causing the blockage.
Virus
In the interests of virus protection, no executable content will be permitted in mails.
Spam
Our mail systems apply some basic anti-spam filters but you will still receive
spam. We suggest that you use use a email client which employs a variety of techniques to
identify and filter spam. One of the most popular freeware email clients with good spam
protection is Mozilla Thunderbird.
We have found that a growing number of customers pcs have been infected with virii/spyware. In a number of these cases those PCs are used in order to send spam onto the internet. This is bad enough as it is, but unfortunately this can in turn lead to our mailservers being added to blacklists resulting in customer mails to certain addresses being rejected. To reduce the chances of this happening somewhat we restrict the number of emails and recipients each end users can send mail to. If this causes you problems, reduce the number to recipients to 50 or less and wait a minute or so between emails.
As our DSL user network has grown we've been receiving an increasing number of complaints about SPAM coming from DSL user machines. This SPAM wastes peoples time and network/computer resources. It also leads to problems for all DSL users because it increases the chances of valid emails being rejected as more of our IPs appear in email blacklists. So, for the above reasons amongst others, we have decided to start blocking outbound SMTP(TCP port 25) traffic from DSL users with dynamic IPs (Business customers are not effected by this). This will no negative effect on the vast majority of users. However, if you are currently using an alternative outbound SMTP mail server you will have to change this to "smtp.mysmart.ie".
Notes
Email accounts which have been unused for 6 months or longer may be removed.
Each email address has an inbox quota of 25MB or 1000 messages, whichever comes first.
