Hi,

I had some problems with Smart, although the reason was probably Eircom.
The day I switched to Smart from Eircom my line was cut off. When I finally got it back after the month I found out my telephone number had changed and it was different from the one I got in welcome pack. As soon as it happened i started to receive calls from people looking for some lady. I rang my original number and I reached this lady. So I presume our numbers were swapt. It lasted for about a week. I reported it to Samrt as soon as I spoted it.
I thought it was all over until today.
I received a bill with phone calls to UK & Northern Ireland. I have never phoned there. I use my landline only to phone home - Poland.

What should I do??

Regards

Tom

Is the bill from Smart or Eircom - whichever it is from I suggest you get in touch with the issuer immediately - over the telephone rather than this way.

by the way if you are phoning home regularly have you looked into setting up an 076 number - if your home in Poland also sets up an 076 number with Smart the calls are free ( I think!)

If you do not wish to do this then you should look at www.blueface.ie for good value and usable with Smart.

is www.blueface.ie is like euphony?

In a very loose sense but the technologies are quite different.

blueface.ie is a VoIP provider which means all your telephone calls are done over the internet. Generally as bandwith is cheaper then getting a rack of lines from eircom and most of your traffic will be IP (except to the last mile where it goes from IP back POTS) its in most cases cheaper and more versatile as no matter where you are in the world. Aslong as you have a internet connection it will be as if you had a phone line in ireland.

Smart are beta testing their own VoIP service (Which I'm in the beta hurray!) but since its still in beta I don't know if I can mention it....

Shame I didn't bring my laptop to the US at the time, could of saved a bit on calling cards.

Smarts VOIP service @ www.smart076.ie is open to everyone now. There is still some final testing in progress but the service is live and available.

Asheen, I will follow up on this with our faults and billing managers tomorrow. It appears that you have been connected to the wrong exchange position.
