View Full Version : Calls cutting out

Last night I made some phone calls to different UK landlines. On each of them we spoke for a few mins then the person just remained quiet.... and didn't respond. I didn't hear any call disconnect, no tones or clicks or difference in the line being active/dead. I tried to dial again but just got an engaged tone. Another time and I had no tone at all. At the same time the other person got a message "this number is not in service". I called them from my mobile & got through OK. My phone was still unexplicably "dead" or "something". After a few mins, I could dial out again. After a few mins of conversation, same again.

The same scenario for a few numbers dialled last night.

I have 2 phone handsets and both were fully charged and check out OK.

Any ideas or known issues/maintenance works? I'm on Wellington Road exchange, Cork.

Thanks in advance.

for the last few weeks people have been telling me my phone is engaged even though there is no one on the phone. any reason for this?

that sometimes when I was phoning home I got a message saying the network was busy, I think that smart is routing calls through a voip server hence why calls were meant to drop due to yesterday DSL outage as referred by Ejay, so if the calls are dropping due to yesterday malfunction then it is assumed that the calls are routing via a voip
