Caller ID?

Hi,

Just wondering if there is any way of having a callers number appear
on my home phone as it used to do with Eircom? Since switching to
Smart phone and broadband, nothing appears on the screen of the
phone like it used to, so, how do I know who is calling?

Just to clarify, the handset is a BT Freestyle 2100, Mods? Anyone?

I am using an eircom fone and I have CLiD, sometimes it erractic

I use a Siemens wireless digital phone and callers numbers do appear on the screen of the phone itself as the call comes in.
I use to use a caller display box I bought from Eircom and could look at it when I came in to see the numbers of any callers who had tried to contact me while I was out, this unit hasnt worked since I changed over to Smart.
Because Smart offer no caller messaging service I bought a GE Answering machine. The unit I believe does work, it has recorded my message etc but there is a loud buzzing sound when a call comes through and the unit picks up the call, and the caller can not record a message.
Technical support when I did get through to them said they knew there was a problem with some manufactures but were not able to tell me what to buy that will work on Smarts exchange.

I have a Simens dect phone also and a couple so 'Southwestern Bell' ones and the number appears no problem - the answering machine on the Simens phone has been misbehaving recently which I put down to the phone itself but maybe it is a Smart issue - I reset the base as the terminology goes - and its been fine for the last week or so. Also have an oldish Sony wired phone and it picks up the calling numbers also.

Just as an update to ye, this has suddenly started working, although the first digit of each incoming number is missing, broadband speeds are back to 200k down though, seems you have either one or the other with Smart!
